Varicella Zoster virus (VZV)

Varicella-commonly called “chickenpox”—occurs worldwide and affects nearly every person by mid-adulthood.

The estimated global burden of mortality caused by varicella is considerably lower than that caused by other infectious diseases. However, severe complications lead to hospitalization (4.2 million) and death (4,200) each year.1

The LightCycler® VZV Qualitative is an in vitro diagnostic assay for the detection of VZV DNA in human cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) samples or vesicle material. The test runs on the LightCycler® 2.0 Instrument, offering flexibility, speed and convenience in diagnostic settings.
