Mycobacterium tuberculosis (MTB)

In 2014, 9.6 million people fell ill with tuberculosis, and 1.5 million died. The vast majority of deaths occur in low- and middle-income countries.1

Tuberculosis is curable and treatable. Between 2000 and 2014, timely diagnosis and proper treatment have improved care dramatically, saving an estimated 43 million lives.

Roche Molecular offers The COBAS® TaqMan® MTB Test for detection of MTB in human respiratory specimens, including sputum and bronchial alveolar lavages (BAL). It can be used together with the COBAS® TaqMan® 48 Analyzer for automated amplification and detection, delivering results in only 2.5 hours after sample preparation.
