The COBAS® AmpliPrep Instrument automates the sample preparation steps of PCR testing for analysis on the COBAS® AMPLICOR Analyzer, contributing to enhanced productivity.

Replaces manual sample preparation steps for PCR with robotic precision, dramatically reducing hands-on time. Can be used for diagnostic applications and for screening pools of blood donations in clinical laboratories. Available as a stand-alone instrument or as part of automated Blood Screening systems and automated / fully automated diagnostic systems.

Customer benefits

  • Easy sample preparation
The COBAS® AmpliPrep Instrument automates the entire sample extraction process. Manual steps are limited to loading and unloading, with reagents in sealed, bar-coded, ready-to-use cassettes (a patented design) for fast and accurate reagent data entry.
  • Qualitative and quantitative results
The COBAS® AmpliPrep Instrument offers an integrated, automated sample preparation system for qualitative and quantitative molecular diagnostics.
  • Large load capacity
Up to 72 samples and four different assays can be loaded on the system simultaneously.
  • Six-step process
The COBAS® AmpliPrep Instrument purifies RNA or DNA targets for PCR in only six simple steps: loading the sealed sample input tubes, lysis and hybridization, capture, washing, resuspension, transfer of prepared samples to output tubes and then their return to their original positions on the sample rack.

Additional features

  • COBAS® Automated, Real-time PCR Solutions
Combine with the COBAS® TaqMan® 48 Analyzer or the COBAS® TaqMan® Analyzer for maximum throughput capacity, to simplify your workflow with automated sample preparation, amplification, and quantitation of RNA or DNA.
  • Sample Processing Unit (SPU)
This dedicated, disposable unit is designed to minimize cross contamination.
  • Pipetting Integrity Check
Ensures the correct pipetting of samples and reagents, thereby minimizing the risk of incorrect results due to pipetting of insufficient volumes. Clot detection reduces the risk of an incorrect result due to a clot or particles in a sample.
